Moffatt & Nichol’s maritime port expertise provided enhanced value when DP World, the developer of London Gateway, commissioned Moffatt & Nichol to undertake a detailed market assessment and competitive evaluation of the new port throughout its development.
Moffatt & Nichol leveraged its strong understanding of the UK container port market and supporting logistics service networks to deliver a detailed analysis of the current and future container shipping market serving the UK and North Europe, together with a review of the competing regional ports and future container volumes. In addition, Moffatt & Nichol focused on assessing the value proposition of a port-centric distribution facility in the UK.
Following the preparation and delivery of this detailed study, Moffatt & Nichol was engaged by a consortium of lending banks to support them throughout a rigorous and lengthy due diligence process.
Following a successful conclusion, Moffatt & Nichol was retained by the lending consortium to provide post-financial close services, primarily periodical market reports and business plan reviews, together with economic and market impact forecast scenarios and sensitivities.
Moffatt & Nichol has since supported both DP World (London Gateway) and a new investment consortium through a refinancing deal and provided post-financial close services to the existing lenders until the 1.65 million TEU threshold was reached in 2021. Services included business plan reviews and stress testing supported by our independent volume and revenue forecasts.
