Hurricane Irma Damages Public Boardwalk in Miami

Sometimes you have to get your feet a little dirty. Environmental/Coastal Scientist Lauren Jonaitis and Coastal/Civil Engineer Tim Blankenship recently hiked through a mangrove forest in Miami-Dade county in Florida to visit a project site. Hurricane Irma damaged and destroyed portions of a public elevated boardwalk in 2017, and Miami-Dade County's department of Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces hired Moffatt & Nichol to complete the engineering design and to process environmental permits for the repair and replacement of the boardwalk above the existing historical path at Charles Deering Estate. The boardwalk also serves as a recreational trail where visitors can enjoy the surrounding natural, historical, and archaeological sites. #CreativePeoplePracticalSolutins#Engineers#MiamiDade#Florida
