The Lightning Point Restoration project was awarded first place at the 2022 Gulf Guardian Awards program in the partnership category. The project constructed one mile of overlapping breakwaters and jetties, utilized more than 240,000 cubic yards of dredged material to create 40 acres of marsh, and added 10,000 linear feet of tidal creeks. The restoration will enable the Bayou la Batre wildlife and fishing community to thrive for years to come. Congratulations to all involved on this project!
