Moffatt & Nichol is delighted to announce the appointment of Haley Blakeman as Gulf Coast Resilience and Planning Lead, based in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, office. Expanding on Moffatt & Nichol’s focus on building healthy and resilient economies, communities, and environments, Haley will lead transformative projects rooted in the Living with Water® approach pioneered by our New Orleans-based design studio Waggonner & Ball.
As a recognized leader in landscape architecture and community-driven urban planning, Haley brings a wealth of expertise to a role focused on empowering communities facing the challenges of climate and flood vulnerability. Her work will emphasize strengthening receiving communities (those welcoming populations displaced by extreme weather) by enhancing urban design and fostering collaborative community planning initiatives.
Jonathan Hird, Vice President – Water at Moffatt & Nichol, said: "I am very excited that Haley has joined our community of experts. We have been exploring collaborative opportunities to work together for some time and welcoming her into our team is a game changer. Her expertise, dynamic energy, and deep passion for community adaptation will significantly enhance our ability to deliver exceptional, client-focused solutions."
Haley Blakeman, Gulf Coast Resilience and Planning Lead at Moffatt & Nichol added: "By weaving resilience into every stage of our projects, we make sure that infrastructure, ecosystems, and community needs come together harmoniously. For me, this is more than just my job, it's a personal mission to build proactive strategies that improve lives and protect our coastal communities. I’m incredibly excited to join this dedicated team, a group that genuinely cares about the people they serve."
Haley joins Moffatt & Nichol from her tenure as Associate Director of the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture and the Center for Planning Excellence. Her appointment underscores Moffatt & Nichol’s commitment to fostering innovative, community-centered approaches to resilience planning and adaptation.
With Haley’s leadership, Moffatt & Nichol is poised to elevate its contributions to sustainable, adaptive design.
