Moffatt & Nichol is proud to announce that two of our projects have received 2023 American Council of Civil Engineering, California Engineering Excellence Awards! The outstanding projects that received these awards would not have been possible without the dedication of our team members, partners, and clients.
The San Elijo Lagoon Restoration project received an Engineering Excellence Honor Award for the rehabilitation of the 1,000-acre lagoon and associated habitats. Today, more than 1,000 plant and animal species visit or inhabit the lagoon, many of which are rare or endangered. As prime consultant, Moffatt & Nichol performed all preliminary engineering, environmental review and permitting, and final engineering for the project.
The Ocean Boulevard Coastal Bike Trail Connector project received an Engineering Excellence Merit Award. The project closes a critical gap in the California Coastal Trail, improving public access to coastal areas and providing an opportunity for bicyclists and pedestrians to cross the Los Angeles River safely. Moffatt & Nichol was the prime consultant who provided project management and structural and civil engineering services.
