David’s extensive experience in transportation projects includes bridges, culverts, sign structures, and signalization structures. He is familiar with all project aspects including project management, preliminary design and studies, long range cost estimating, design, quality control/assurance, constructability reviews, and construction phase services. His portfolio includes new construction, widenings, replacements, repair/rehabilitation, and specialty items such as top-down construction, cathodic protection, bridge jacking, value engineering, and analysis of bridges for overloads during construction. He is experienced with design-bid-build and design-build delivery methods.
His focus is projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and counties/cities in Florida, but he also has experience in Georgia and South Carolina. David’s bridge super structure experience includes prestressed concrete beams, steel I-beams, steel box beams, flat slab concrete, and prestressed concrete deck slabs. His bridge substructure experience includes bents, hammerhead piers, and multi-column piers founded on prestressed concrete piles, steel H-piles, steel pipe piles, and drilled shafts.
David has also designed multiple pedestrian bridges. Types include continuous flat slab concrete decks supported on pile bents, as well as prefabricated steel bridges supported on both pile-supported and spread foundations.
With his extensive and wide-ranging experience, David specializes in quality control/quality assurance checks and plans reviews for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and conformance to criteria. He has performed plan reviews for FDOT District 2 and is currently performing plan reviews for our FDOT District 3 GEC contract.
He has also provided structural design for industrial, water/wastewater, electrical, and specialty engineering projects for clients that include cities, counties, private companies, the U.S. Navy, and contractors. His industrial experience includes access platforms, barge mooring dolphins, foundations for storage tanks, foundations for pre-engineered buildings, containment pits, pipe racks, and access platforms. Water/wastewater experience includes concrete tanks (above and in-ground), process buildings, pump stations, and lift stations. Electrical projects include substation structures and foundations, control buildings, electrical vaults within an existing pier, and transmission poles. Specialty engineering projects include drainage structures for airplane loading, helical anchors for foundations and culverts, and analysis of structures for out-of-tolerance construction.
David received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida. He is a licensed professional engineer in Florida, Pennsylvania, Georgia, South Carolina, and Louisiana.
