Hugo Acuña comes to Moffatt & Nichol with more than 15 years of experience as a project manager and engineer for projects involving the development of coastal and port engineering studies. He is also a specialist in discrete event simulation and has developed port operation studies, with expertise that encompasses operational optimization and reliability, and engineering economy. In addition, Hugo is experienced in the numerical modelling of waves, hydrodynamics, water quality, and breakwater stability assessments, as we as the evaluation of marine energy resources. He has participated in studies in Latin America, Canada, the United States, Australia and Africa for mining and energy projects.
Hugo received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Valparaíso, Chile. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia.
