Moffatt & Nichol is pleased to announce that Hugo Bermudez has joined the company as the business unit leader for South Florida. Based in Miami, he will lead Moffatt & Nichol’s strategic approach in this important regional market sector.

Hugo has more than 25 years of engineering and leadership experience, with expertise encompassing coastal and civil engineering, he has led and designed projects ranging from navigation improvements and offshore structures to ecosystem restorations that incorporate living shorelines.
In the early 2000s, he was a founding partner of a coastal engineering firm, responsible for growing its operations until its 2014 acquisition. He has served as a national coastal practice leader, regional manager, and internationally, as a country manager in Colombia. Most recently, Hugo served as a business development manager in South Florida, the Caribbean, and parts of Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Hugo completed his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of New Mexico and received his Master of engineering in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is a licensed professional engineer in Florida and seven other states. Hugo received accreditation as a Diplomate, Coastal Engineering (D.CE) from the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE).
