Melany is a professional geologist with a technical background that includes coastal geology, offshore investigations, GIS database design and analysis, and resiliency/hazard mitigation planning. She has reviewed and conducted regional sediment management projects for federal and state agencies and has identified, designed, and permitted more than 50 offshore borrow areas throughout the Atlantic and Gulf, identifying more than 100 million cubic yards of beach compatible sand. She designed 14 borrow areas that received ASBPA’s Best Restored Beach awards.
Prior to joining Moffatt & Nichol, Melany worked with coastal engineering and infrastructure firms in the Gulf and Southeast. Melany received her Master of Science in Geology from Florida Atlantic University, where she also earned her undergraduate degree. She is a professionally licensed geologist/geoscientist in Florida, North Carolina, and Louisiana.
