Healthy bridges are essential to North Carolina’s transportation system. This project helps keep communities connected by the state’s essential bridge-highway networks.
Under on-call contracts with the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s (NCDOT) Division 4, our team completed professional services for 10 bridge replacement projects via design-build delivery—seven in Halifax County and three in Nash County. For project design, we established horizontal and vertical alignments, super elevations, lane and shoulder widths, guardrail requirements, proper sight distances, and maintenance of traffic plans. Bridge structures included eight cored slab bridges and two box beam bridges. Design services extended to geotechnical engineering, pavement management, and traffic engineering, as well as environmental permits, erosion and sedimentation control plans, utilities coordination, right-of-way, and waterline relocation. The project team also produced all required Bridge Survey Reports (BSR) and Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs).
