Tampa Riverwalk

The Tampa Riverwalk is designed to provide a vibrant and interactive waterfront experience for residents and visitors alike, by connecting downtown riverfront parks, museums, attractions, and businesses.

Winding along the Hillsborough River for 2.6 miles, much of the Tampa Riverwalk multi-use path is over water, requiring specific design expertise. Moffatt & Nichol joined the Tampa Riverwalk team to provide planning, permit support, and design services for the waterside components of the development, including the environmental restoration of Tampa’s Water Works Park.

Moffatt & Nichol’s initial work supported developing the master plan and included evaluating the waterfront for the design of overwater walkways, water taxi stations, and a kayak and canoe launch. The assessment also determined current and future uses of waterfront properties and identified navigational constraints and environmental impacts. Permitting activities for the waterfront elements included coordination with regulatory agencies and preparation of supporting engineering documents. A comprehensive permit strategy allowed individual sections of the projected to be permitted and constructed independently of one another. Moffatt & Nichol provided design services for the final design and construction documents for individual overwater walkways.
