Washington, DC to Richmond Southeast High-Speed Rail (DC2RVA)

The DC2RVA project completes the critical link between the Northeast Corridor and the Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor, as well as enhance connectivity between Richmond and Northern Virginia.

This project improves modal options available to Virginians, while preserving the economic benefits that Virginia receives from the high quality freight rail network.

Moffatt & Nichol was part of a consulting team supporting the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation in preparing a Tier II Environmental Impact Statement for the DC2RVA segment that evaluated a series of infrastructure and service improvements along the corridor to determine a preferred alternative. Moffatt & Nichol provided oversight of the team’s conceptual design and preliminary engineering work for the entire 123-mile corridor, detailed analyses and design for the Richmond Segment of project, and key stakeholder coordination support. The project had an extremely accelerated and aggressive schedule for a study of this magnitude.
