The State Route 429 widening project will increase capacity from an existing four- to six-lane roadway, while making room for future expansion.
Moffatt & Nichol is currently designing and preparing a set of construction plans for the proposed State Route (SR) 429 Widening Improvements from West Road to SR 414 Orange County, Florida for the Central Florida Expressway Authority. The project widens 4.4 miles of SR 429, providing three lanes in each direction with full-depth shoulders for part-time shoulder running and a median barrier wall. Milling and resurfacing will be performed on all existing pavement within the project limits to extend pavement life. This project also widens existing bridges over West Orange Trail, West McCormick Road, Harmon Road, and the southbound off-ramp to SR 414. Existing bridges over CR 437A will be replaced with a 240-foot single-span steel box girder bridge. Median drainage will be designed to accommodate a future, ultimate ten-lane section with five lanes in each direction. Additional items of work include, signing and pavement markings, intelligent traffic systems, and lighting.
