Wekiva Parkway Section 3B’s new flyover bridge improves safety and driver access to Wekiva Parkway, allowing for a safe, continuous flow of traffic.
We were the lead design firm for section 3B, which involved replacing an existing diamond interchange at SR 46 and US 441 with an at-grade intersection and a grade-separated flyover from southbound US 441 to eastbound SR 46. This alternative, which was selected by vote by the members of the Mount Dora City Council, offers improved efficiency and function for drivers, significant reductions in construction and maintenance costs, and fewer impacts to residential properties in the corridor. To mitigate any environmental impacts, a bat structure or group of structures was provided to accommodate at least 20,000 bats. As a result of the interchange modifications, SR 46 was reconstructed as a six-lane divided highway.
